Under the rainbow in Arosa

It was courageous pioneers who brought it to life: the Arosa Gay Ski Week. Hitsch Leu, a visionary hotelier, set a precedent in 2005 – for more tolerance, joie de vivre, and color on the slopes. In the meantime, this joyful winter festival has become a fixed point in the event calendar of our destination and the global LGBTQ+ community. The rainbow has found its permanent place in the valley.
It was definitely a creative and courageous idea that Hitsch Leu brought to life in 2005 at his establishment, the Hotel Eden. The Arosa Gay Ski Week was a pioneering act, an experiment to create more space for the rainbow family in winter and on the slopes. It is a good thing that there are and were such hoteliers who have a broad horizon and dare to do the unconventional.
What seems like a matter of course today is by no means recognized as such everywhere. Fortunately, Arosa is miles ahead in this regard: the joyful rainbow family is warmly welcomed everywhere, all year round. And the Arosa Gay Ski Week is a permanent fixture in the event calendar of our cosmopolitan resort. We are delighted about this, not least because the LGBTQ+ community has also taken our chalet to its heart and appreciates its privacy. For sports, fun, and enjoyment among like-minded friends – under the same roof. As a tribute to this festival of winter joys, we have launched an escape, especially for the community.
For Fun – the rainbow at the BelArosa Chalet
Here is the ultimate rainbow listicle from our house – tailored to the wishes of all birds of paradise:
• Red: Our guests at the BelArosa Chalet see red by a cozy fire at the fireplace – every chalet has at least one of them.
• Orange: The classic, freshly squeezed orange juice – for breakfast, which can certainly be a late breakfast, depending on your party mood. The breakfast is conjured into the chalet at your desired time by nimble elves in the background. A magical chime gently coaxes every party animal out of bed.
• Yellow: There is plenty of sun and sunny days in Arosa. And for those who don't want to carve up the slopes, you can sit on one of our spacious chalet terraces, all to yourself. To go with it, there are fine mixers created especially for the BelArosa Chalet by MIKKS Drinks – shaken, stirred, or simply neat, just as you wish.
• Green: They smell of green alpine hay. Or evergreen stone pine. Or rosemary. At the BelArosa Chalet, there is something for everyone. We are talking about the handmade soaps from the soap makers in Arosa. You can choose the scent that will accompany you during your stay. And as a little treat, we will send you home with your bar of soap in a special soap box.
• Blue: L’heure bleue—that hour when the Schanfigg valley and Arosa are bathed in a unique light—is magical in the mountains. Of course, things really heat up during the après-ski hour. If you are looking for inner harmony, you can dive in—into our five infinity pools, two of which offer a spectacular sky view. You can gaze into the blue for hours, even under the starry sky. The pool fills at the touch of a button in 15 minutes. The water is heated with locally sourced wood pellets and stored in our own tanks.
• Violet: If you are looking for a "purple break" here, you have come to the wrong place. We serve handmade chocolate from Nala Chocolatière, the high-end manufacturer from Rifferswil. And one thing is certain: every praline has a different color and guarantees a rainbow of fireworks on your palate.
